Vultures In Costa Rica

Saw a King Vulture.

Long-distance photograph of a King Vulture sunning his wings atop a bare tree. A flash of red can be seen where he turns his head.

And a bunch of Black Vultures.

A black vulture perched at the crook of a tree branch. His wings are held partially out while folded, giving him an odd W silhouette. His head is ducked into his chest, pruning his feathers, and only the scaley top can be seen. Photographed early March 2024.

Never have I ever seen to many black vultures congregated in one place.

The King vulture was massive - that photograph was taken from quite some distance away, and he was visible to the naked eye even without aid. Would have loved to try tracking him for some more close-up shots.
