Cloud Landscapes

I've found it fascinating how clouds can seem to be rising from the ground, looking like distant mountains. In the photo above you can distinguish the top cloud cover but I like the way this looks like a shadow frame of the sky.

To us the entire sky was a yellow glow and the light that came in our windows cast a sort of golden glow inside. But when going outside to take photos, the sky was either a deep red in spots or not particularly colorful as in the photo above.

We guessed that part of what we were seeing was light being bounced back down from the heavy cloud cover that was part of a storm system south of us.
