Dragonfly, landscapes, and bird from Australia

Australian Emperor, 7 Nov 2011, Sydney

Taken at my uni with my new DSLR. With my old camera it was almost impossible to get a somewhat decent shot of these dragonflies as they never seem to land. With my new camera using the telephoto lens and manual focus, I can get some decent shots. This was the crispest shot I got in the air. My first dragonfly/damselfly forage for the summer at my uni's lake.

Hilda's Lookout, Blue Mountains, 17 Sep 2011

Scaly-Breasted Lorikeet, Canberra, 15 Oct 2011

Taken at a walk in aviary using my telephoto lens.

Everglades Gardens, Blue Mountains, NSW, 19 Sep 2011

Wow. The Everglades Gardens -- I didn't know what to expect (being from south Florida, myself, "Everglades" means swamp, bald cypress, and a lot of cabbage palms and sawgrass), and it's just gorgeous.

And I've never seen a bird with a bright beak like that lorikeet. If someone painted a picture of that, I'd have thought they made it up.

I usually love animal pics more, and the ones above are gorgeous (that dragonfly one!) -- but there's something very special about the last landscape scene that just draws my eye in <3

These are all fabulous! Dragonfly flight shots are always challenging and that's an impressive one, but I agree with [personal profile] afuna about that last landscape.
