Woodpecker!

A small black and white woodpecker on a bare tree branch against a bright clear sky.

I saw this bird while walking home from the library. The other birds around here are also getting more active and noisy, even though there's still most of a foot of snow on the ground and more predicted this weekend.

That's a great sighting. I don't think I've ever seen a woodpecker in my area.

What a stunning photo and such a beauty!

I miss the sound of woodpeckers pecking. Since we moved here 7 years ago, I have not heard one.

I'll bet some are setting up nests. We've been seeing bird mating and more territorial behavior around the food plate.
