Foggy Weeks

For a few weeks early this month we had overcast skies and a lot of fog, some of it only breaking for a few hours in early afternoon and then returning.

In fact, I can't recall a time when I ever saw so much of it, day after day. Made for some pretty views though.

Wow, that is some intense fog! I grew up in a place known for it (the city my dad lives in has an annual Fog Festival...) but I'm still impressed.

I like your choice of icon, too. :)

Oh wow that is A LOT of fog!! It really changes the atmosphere and must feel so eerie if it's lasting for so long!

Ooooh, that's a LOT of fog. It reminds me of one time, years ago, when I was driving up my street and it was so foggy I couldn't find my house.

I even wrote about it!

Mr Eliot meets Mr Shakespeare

The wind moans under the eaves
And Winter, cold fingered, gropes
About the house once more

'Now is the Winter of our discontent'

The fire warms itself in the grate
And flames, warm fingered
Rub themselves like old men's hands

'Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow'

The fog stalks cold around the house
And mist, light fingered,
Feels every gap, like a blind man.

'I see thee, yet I have thee not'

Wind, fire and fog about grey stone.
Ivy, fickle fingered scans the storied slab
Like life's poor player who struts and frets,

'And then is heard no more'

I can imagine it must feel quite depressing to have such dark weather for a long period but in these photos it just looks unearthly and lovely.

I love fog pictures. You caught the layers very well.

It's hard to get good pictures of fog where you know you're looking at fog and not a dirty lens or have just as solid color. That first one is really nice, I think.

There were some days of significant fog in my region this month, too. It's not uncommon by any means, but people still seem unable to drive for conditions... I'm grateful to work from home and have the option of just not leaving the house at all on those days. I do think it's rather pretty, though. Kinda mystical? (Or terrifying, when I think of movies like The Fog.)

=^..^=~
