Vultures In Costa Rica

Saw a King Vulture.

Long-distance photograph of a King Vulture sunning his wings atop a bare tree. A flash of red can be seen where he turns his head.

And a bunch of Black Vultures.

A black vulture perched at the crook of a tree branch. His wings are held partially out while folded, giving him an odd W silhouette. His head is ducked into his chest, pruning his feathers, and only the scaley top can be seen. Photographed early March 2024.

Very nice! I saw Black Vultures in the wild for the first time when I was in Georgia last year. There's one at the bird sanctuary near where I live that can't fly, so it's resident there as an educational ambassador.
