I finally got a new camera - just in time for spring to hit. Most of the trees around here don't have any leaves yet, but a lot have started to blossom. Here's a couple of closeups from the last couple of days and weeks, as well as two pictures that show off how good my new camera is at making things look a bit moody:

First up, Purple-leaf plum blossoms:

Regular plum blossoms:

Forsythia blossoms:

Cherry blossoms:

As for the bonus pictures, first, have an oak:

And finally, the spruce trees in the forest:

Forsythia in particular is nondescript for fifty weeks of the year—and then explodes into an exuberant golden firework; I’m moderately surprised that it isn’t up there with the flowering cherry as an emblem of the poignant beauty of transience.

And your woodland shots, with the shadowy receding columns of spruces and the gnarled complexity of the oak against the delicate lattices of underbrush, have the air of frontispieces to a fairytale.

Wishing you many years of fun with your new tool!

Have a forsythia palette: variations on the theme of yellow.

All the wow! Was the air exceptionally still? or was it bright enough that it didn't matter?

Those are excellent pictures. That's a nice camera. Thank you for sharing. Such depth in them. Almost 3 dimensional. Makes me want to paint them.

I feel for you! I'm only allergic to alder pollen and they only spread their pollen for a couple of weeks.

The smell of plum blossoms is my favorite thing about spring. Luckily we we have a lot of those here, even around the communist blocks where i live in Belgrade, there’s a few plum trees around

Yes, they were, many people don't know that but for instance in the blocks where I live, there's essentially a park between each of the towers, so there is greenery and trees among the concrete slabs. And yes, some fragrant flowers such as plums and lilacs.

Thanks for sharing these beautiful blossoms

...made even more wonderful in that I don't have to suffer their pollen.

I would love to make an icon from the purple-leaf plum photo -- of course you and the comm would be credited. Are you willing?
