So very pretty, and so very difficult to photograph in their natural habitat. I resisted the temptation to "garden" for a better shot. Although my proudest achievement was, of course, not falling into the canal! :-)
Ha, i was looking at photos of the same iris to identify for someone else here in California. Here it's an invasive species: lovely to see it in a native (yes?) setting!
We brought some of our irises over when we moved from Cambridge (almost two years ago now) and they still have yet to bloom. :/ Not sure why they aren't as happy here. The leaves definitely looked better this year than last, at least.
It's probably only a matter of adjustment and time before you find yourself cursing them for trying to take over the world (or, at least, the boggier parts of the world, heh).
