This afternoon a small flock of Bullfinches (Pyrrhula pyrrhula) visited the maple outside my window and I managed to take this photo sequence of one of the females.

Bullfinch!!! (with long-tailed tits)

I am gleeful about this [slightly fuzzy] garden bird feeder photo, because it contains...a bullfinch! Look at its chunky beak and terracotta breast! I didn't think they typically used bird feeders, but this one has discovered the thistle seed feeder, which we put out for our regular visitors, the goldfinches.
In fact, I was so excited when I was trying to take these photos (in the pouring rain) that I almost failed to notice the three long-tailed tits feasting on the fat balls next to the bullfinch.
This is the third time we've seen the bullfinch, and I'm trying to stay vigilant so I can capture better photos of it when the weather is better and the brown garden waste bin isn't stood in the middle of the lawn, ha.
